The New Job

Thanks to everyone for their hopes, prayers, and good thoughts during my job search.

I have been offered a position as the IT Director for the Mobile County Commission starting May 11, 2009.

The county is a Microsoft Shop and firmly on Exchange so I don't think I'll be posting any Lotus Small Business related content anytime soon. The blog has been on life support since January and now it's time to pull the plug. Thanks for reading.

Congratulations! You will soon learn that the MS stuff that the Yellowverse blogs and Tweets about isn't really as bad as they say it is.

Congratulations. As a Notes guy whose wife would like to return to Mobile but who also wants to put food on the table, I thought that either you'd have to leave Mobile to stay in Notes or leave Notes to stay in Mobile.

Good for you, Chuck.

As for the blog, too bad. Speaking for myself, I'm interested in your perspective on the world you'll be living in now. Nothing to do with LotusSMB, true, but a good blogging topic anyway. Tom Duff has done something similar from a dev viewpoint, but I haven't seen anyone do the admin viewpoint.

Just a thought. In any event, glad to see you back in the game.

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations.

@tlbriley - I agree about the state of Notes in Mobile. There used to be enough Notes customers in the Mobile/Pensacola area to support a users group but mergers, acquisitions and aggressive Microsoft marketing have about wiped it out.

@Rob - I may try doing another blog, make it more general but first I need to get my feet on the ground in this new job and get the lay of the land. This is a government job with a lot of political attention and blogging may not be looked on favorably... so we'll see. In the meantime I'll keep reading everyone else and commenting when I feel I have something to say.

Hopefully we can take a vacation in January to WDW around the beginning of Lotusphere and I can make it to the blogger dinner, the ESPN party and for some Karaoke.
